Currently doing research into body composition and how the body changes with a cancer diagnosis. Ioanna is looking into various new AI techniques, as well as studying the cancer on a deep molecular level.
Currently researching a familial cancer syndrome called Lynch syndrome. Her research is to find the early signs of cancer and detect why some people get cancer and some don’t.
Currently doing research regarding peri-anal fistula. Luke’s aim is to try and find the root causes in inflammation that leads to peri-anal Crohn’s disease, to find better treatment for people before any fistulas may develop.
Currently studying body composition, and how prehabilitation methods can predict outcomes for people undergoing surgery for colorectal cancer.
Currently doing research into cancer risks in people with inflammatory bowel disease, particularly those with ulcerative colitis.

Currently doing research on rectal vaginal fistula. Her research is looking into this condition to help improve patients’ quality of life.
Researching the ability to predict IBD patients’ response to medications early on in their treatment course to reduce complications and improve quality of life.
Currently doing research into people with inflammatory bowel disease, particularly those who have pre-cancerous changes or have cancer and discovering which operation could be best for them.
Currently doing research in dysplasia within ulcerative colitis and has just received a grant from Bowel Cancer UK to further fund this research.
