St Mark’s Hospital, The National Bowel Hospital is the only hospital in the world to specialise entirely in intestinal and colorectal medicine. It has provided advanced care in colorectal and intestinal disease for nearly 200 years, and is the only hospital in the UK, and one of only 14 worldwide, to be recognised as a centre of excellence by the World Organisation of Digestive Endoscopy.

Spotlight on research

Dinh is undertaking research into the use of artificial intelligence-driven volumetric body composition analysis and the clinical potentials for individualised analysis treatments such as chemotherapy dosing for colorectal cancer. He is supervised by Mr Ian Jenkins as part of the BiCyCLE group.

Dinh obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Birmingham, undertook his foundation training in Merseyside and his core surgical training in Yorkshire and Humberside. He is now a higher surgical training registrar (STS) in the Thames Valley Deanery and is taking time out of programme to undertake his PhD.

John Nicholls Prize 2024

Congratulations to Ms Pebs Edwards who won the John Nicholls Prize for Research at this year’s Frontiers event in November 2024.

Ms Edwards is currently researching a familial cancer syndrome called Lynch syndrome. Her research is to find the early signs of cancer and detect why some people get cancer and some don’t.
